Air travel have recommenced at Scotland's primary international airport after a major air traffic control outage halted all operations.

All aircraft movements were stopped because of an technical fault that arose around 08:30.

Several flyers reported being stuck in planes on the runway during the disruption.

Services Recommence with Residual Impact

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "cooperation and patience".

That said, ongoing issues are anticipated to affect schedules. Services bound for key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with numerous other services facing hold-ups.

A spokesperson had earlier anticipated that dozens of flights could be impacted.

"Travelers are urged to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date details on their booked journeys," was the consistent advice.

Root of the Disruption

Officials linked the widespread suspension to an IT issue with its control tower systems vendor.

Flyers continue to be advised to confirm the details of their trip before departing to the airport as backlogs are cleared.
